E Way Bill is an electronically generated document issued for transportation of goods by vehicles. A registered person is not permitted to transport goods without an E-way Bill from one place to another if the value of the goods exceeds ₹50000 or in some special cases where the supply is inter-state i.e., transport of goods from one state to another.
Each E-Way Bill consists of a unique number known as EBN (E-Way Bill Number) which is available to the buyer, seller, and also the transporter.
An E-Way Bill generally has two parts; Part A and Part B. Part A is to be filled by the supplier and Part B by the transporter. However, it is a common business practice to fill both the parts by the supplier himself.
E Way Bill generation can be done through various modes like online, SMS, Android App, and API-based integration. It can be generated from www.ewaybillgst.gov.in.
As we know an E Way Bill consists of two parts A and B.
- Part A- This part contains the details such as GSTIN of the supplier and recipient, necessary documents like delivery challan, bills of supply, tax invoice, bills of entry, etc., details regarding the goods being transported such as the value of goods, quantity, date of supply, HSN codes, reasons for transportation, etc. Part A is to be furnished by the registered person who is causing the movement of the goods.
- Part B- IT consists of the details of the transport such as vehicle number, transporter document number, railway receipts (wherever applicable), bill of lading, etc.
