E way Bill is an electronically generated document issued for the transportation of goods by vehicles. Without an Eway bill, a registered person is not permitted to transport goods from one place to another if the value of the goods exceeds? 50000 or in some special cases where the supply is inter-state i.e., transport of goods from one state to another.
Each E Way Bill consists of a unique number known as EBN (E-Way Bill Number) which is available to the buyer, seller, and also the transporter.

1. Registration
To generate an e way bill, getting registered with www.ewaybillgst.gov.in is the first step. The registration process is quite simple. You have to enter the GSTIN of the business and fill in the captcha code.
This will direct you to a window where all the primary details of your business, trade name, address, registered mobile number, and email id, will be provided. An OTP will be sent to the registered email id and phone number.
The successful verification of that will lead you to a window to create a new username and password for the eway bill.

2. Log in to the website
Using the newly created username and password, log in to the Eway Bill portal, and from the top left corner select the E-Way Bill tab and further select Generate New from the dropdown menu.

3. Furnishing details in Part A
The boxes with red dots appearing on the sides indicate that they are mandatory fields and, the e-way bill cannot be generated without filling out the same. The boxes with green dots indicate that filling out these will help in the auto-population of GSTR 1. First, fill out the necessary details of the type of transaction.
Secondly, provide the details of the buyer or recipient like name, address, shipping address, etc. Further, fill out the details of the goods in transportation such as HSN code, description, the taxable value of goods, etc. After furnishing the above, we can proceed to fill out Part B.

Details of the transporter-like as name, transportation id, the distance of travel, vehicle type, vehicle number, license number, mode of transport, whether by road, rail, airways or waterways, date, etc.
5. Generate E Way Bill:
After furnishing the above details you can submit the request for the generation of e-way bills. On submitting the request, the Eway Bill will be generated instantly in an electronic format.
The Eway bill consists of a QR code that can be scanned to provide all the details of the e-way bill in an electronic form. This eliminates the need to have a physical copy of the same.
